FORTUNATA IS AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT LOCATED IN BRASÍLIA, BRAZIL. WITH A FOCUS ON PASTAS, SEAFOOD AND PIZZAS MADE IN REAL WOOD-FIRED OVENS. A PERFECT WINE LIST COMPLEMENTS THE FOOD AND THE ENVIRONMENT, AND THEY HAVE SOME FAITHFUL CLIENTS WHO HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 10 YEARS.
Unfortunately, their logo (below) was looking outdated.
I was called in to redesign their logo. One of the clients request was to use the original logo as inspiration and not deviate too far from it. So I decided to focus on the letter F and the sun rays of the original logo and take it from there.
Done. The next step would be to find a font that complements the new logo, choose some colours and that's it. But sometimes projects change without you realising it, and after some consideration I decided to create a custom typography for the client, giving them their own font.

The process of creating the F was used to make an expanding grid on which every letter could be designed on.
After the alphabet was complete, the name Fortunata was written with their new font, paying close attention to kerning and then adding it inside the sun rays.
That's looking good, now we just need some colour.
And here are a few colour applications.
(The initial idea of only using the F was too good to not use so it become a reduced option of the logo.)
And here's the custom typography working in all it's glory.
The type was also used in all stationary and menus.
Thank you so much! I’d love to do a similar project for you.
